Broken Sky is the stunning start to ‘The Broken Trilogy’, an intriguing and wonderful mix of dystopian fantasy linked with disconcerting reflections of history and military, plus it’s full of thrills, suspense, espionage and romance. It is nearly two thousand years after the clock restarted due to a terrible war and each country in the world is represented by pilots at the World for Peace complex. Rather than disagreements escalating to war, single Peacefighter pilots battle it out in the sky in a Peacefight, with the aim to win by shooting down the plane, not the pilot. 18 year old Amity is a Western Seaboard pilot, she is captivating and tenacious, the prologue throws her straight into action. L.A. Weatherly doesn't release all the information you need to know about this world straight away, she lets you piece it together, which brings a greater connection and understanding. I found myself completely immersed in this fascinating and original novel and quite simply didn't want to come up for air, I loved it and can’t wait for the second in the series. October 2016 NewGen Book of the Month. Absolutely thrilling! This is the second in the truly wonderful ‘Broken Trilogy’ and is just as captivating and if possible, even more gripping than the first. This world must be entered through Broken Sky, it may be the 1940’s, but it’s nearly two thousand years after The Cataclysm, war and atomic weapons are banned, yet one man is determined to take over the world. We are launched straight back into action, the prologue sees former Peacefighter Amity on trial for murder and sentenced to a prison camp, after President Gunnison’s Harmony regime steamrollered over the Central States. L.A. Weatherly sends you backwards and forwards in time, feeding information, building fear, never allowing you to settle. I felt alert and constantly aware, ready, waiting for the next adrenaline shot. Disbelief settled in an uncomfortable pit in my stomach as Amity battled to survive the Harmony 5 camp. Darkness Follows is full of clever, original, thought provoking writing, this is one addictive trilogy and I will be impatiently stalking the final instalment, Black Moon. ~ Liz Robinson
March 2017 NewGen Book of the Month. A fitting and truly fabulous end to the breathtaking Broken Trilogy. It’s 1942, nearly two thousand years after time was reset and war and atomic weapons were banned, yet a terrifying regime is attempting to stamp and bully its way across the world. The resistance has a voice, Amity is determined to fight to the bitter end. This is an epic story, 650 pages flew by as my heart sank, wept, and sang. L. A. Weatherly doesn't always allow time to run concurrently, instead significant moments remain hidden, biding their time, waiting to surprise. Uncomfortable truths stride across the page, yet they don’t preach, instead this punchy, vibrant, incredible trilogy allows you to make comparisons, to feel, to think, to decide. l absolutely adore and highly recommend Black Moon, it storms your emotions, echoes the past, and yet, is a warning from the future. ~ Liz Robinson
