Single, Again, and Again, and Again ... What Do You Do When Life Doesn't Go to Plan?

I feel really proud that the author is now happy with her life and I thank her for sharing her story in such an open and honest way. It is definitely a book that all young girls should read as she is an inspiration.

The title of this book really caught my attention and I was intrigued to know more. From the first page of this book, I was hooked. The writing is brilliant, very easy to read and I flew through the chapters.

It is a memoir of the author detailing her life up to now, focusing on her love life and her ‘life plan’, which is to meet ‘the one’ and have children in her 20s. As time goes on and this doesn’t work out, she revises the plan until she realises that this plan isn’t the be all and end all. It is up to her to determine how she wants to live her life rather than waiting for this perfect man to arrive.

This book really highlights the societal pressure that most women are under from a young age, starting with the fairy tales of happy ever after which then sets unrealistic expectations for the rest of their lives. It really made me think hard and reflect on my own life as I’ve lost track of the amount of times people ask ‘when are you going to get married?’, ‘when are you going to have children?’ as if that is the only purpose of life as a woman.

I feel really proud that the author is now happy with her life and I thank her for sharing her story in such an open and honest way. It is definitely a book that all young girls should read as she is an inspiration.
