Eclipsed

Wow, an interesting and unique idea for a book. Eclipsed has been developed out of unusual circumstances which helped to make this a truly unique read.

Wow, an interesting and unique idea for a book. Eclipsed has been developed out of unusual circumstances which helped to make this a truly unique read. This is the memoir of Dominic Holland, writer, comedian and father who regales readers with not only his life but the success of his son, Tom.

I was drawn to this book as I am a big Marvel fan, however what I found was an account of Dominic and Tom's intersecting careers tod in a heartfelt and self-deprecating manner. This book gives a fascinating behind the scenes insight at the life of a writer and comedian as well as his observations as his son "eclipses" him, rising quickly to popularity as an actor.

I loved the honesty in this book, throughout Dominic owns up to awkward moments, embarrassment, faults, hopes and fears and all of these adds to the endearing nature of the unlikely story of Eclipsed.

I feel that this book really is a rare gem, as it is mentioned in the foreword, people use news releases and internet soruces in order to cobble together inaccurate and naff biographies of celebrities, with all the prejudgements of those sources ingrained within them. However, Eclipsed is a truly funny memoir and biography combined and I found it an enlightening, funny exceptional and enjoyable read from start to finish.

I don't think I can sum it up much better than Dominic did himself in his handwritten note at the start of my copy, this is "an unlikely but true story".
