The Perfect Stranger Reader Reviews

The Perfect Stranger

Overall very enjoyable and I thought the ending was fitting and tied up all the loose ends of the story.

I liked the way this story built, the way you didn’t know the whole story at first, how details were revealed slowly as you got further into the intrigue of what happened to Leah previously. It was written well, with good details so I could picture the cabin in the wood near the lake.

The author tries and to a great extent succeeds in giving us lots of clues. It all gets satisfactorily explained in the end

On first reading ‘The Perfect Stranger’ by Megan Miranda, I found it a little confusing as it jumps backwards and forwards in time. Once you understand this, it is fairly easy to follow.

Leah, the main character, has left her job as a reporter due to a problem, although we don't find out what this is for some time. She takes up a teaching post and meets up with an old friend and they decide to share a house. Then this friend disappears and no one can find any trace of her. Basically, the book is about Leah doing her own investigation as to what happened to her friend. The usual things happen as one might expect in a thriller, people disappear or are found murdered, strange phone calls, a mysterious past, and suspicious characters. The author tries and to a great extent succeeds in giving us lots of clues, but I found the twists and turns confusing. It all gets satisfactorily explained in the end although I am not sure that I was convinced of the outcome.

I felt that the author spent too much time writing about Leah's thoughts and memories, for me it slowed down the pace of the story.

I would rate this book 4 stars out of 5.

Intriguing and complex mystery thriller that is fast paced and gripping. Overall, a great read.

This is a really interesting book, full of clues and revelations. Megan Miranda's story follows Leah Stevens, who has just resigned from her job at a newspaper and is looking to leave town quickly. Reconnecting with an old friend appears to be the sanctuary required for Leah...at first. But Leah goes missing, and the intrigue continues as someone with a very strong resemblance shows up. A really believable and compelling narrative and I would definitely recommend it.

‘The Perfect Stranger’ is a beautifully written, fast paced gripping mystery thriller that left me guessing to the end.

‘The Perfect Stranger’ is a beautifully written, fast paced gripping mystery thriller that left me guessing to the end. The characters are well-drawn and the plot has many twists and turns.

I will definitely be reading more of Megan's books in the future.
