This is Sinead Moriarty’s tenth novel and it’s at her heart-warming, tear-jerking best. The Devlin sisters are best friends, but each has a secret in her life that she can’t possibly admit to herself, let alone her sisters, or their little brother, arguably the real star of the book. Cue plenty of life drama, big moments of reveal, heart-ache and reminders of just how wonderful family can be. A great read.
A great insight from the female point of view into the modern family and of the burdens of holding the family together when things go down hill. Happy unit, Mum, Dad, two kids, falls apart when Will (Dad) is made redundant and six months later so too is Charlotte (Mum). The daughter (Rosie 16) is the result of a youthful affair and now her estranged father turns up. Only the lad, 7-year old Ollie, seems reasonably stable. This is well thought out, well presented and a thoroughly good read.
Twin boys grow up in the same family, in the same town. Dramatically different, they become bitter enemies, even as children: one good, one bad. One leaves his peaceful hometown, but when the prodigal son returns twenty years later, the brothers' reunion will expose shocking revelations...A riveting novel of family secrets, salvation, and redemption from the world's favourite storyteller Danielle Steel.

February 2015 Book of the Month. Beautifully simple yet holding a complicated truth, this is an intriguing and thought provoking read. The honesty and openness of the writing emphasises, without complicating the subject matter. As Celia and Miriam tell their stories, their voices change and evolve, you can quite literally hear them speak as you read. The author allows each character to discover themselves, ensuring their troubles, thoughts and feelings are accentuated and experienced. This quietly strong and eloquent read allows emotions to be felt and realised, encourages contemplation and reflection and while at times is heartrending also contains a breath of optimism that whispers and floats from the pages. ~ Liz Robinson
Provocative, insightful and stimulating, this is a surprisingly simple yet captivating story featuring a deep and harrowing subject that is often avoided. It initially feels as though a story about suicide shouldn't work, yet it emphatically does and on so many different levels. Aysel and Roman are authentically real, you feel their connection, their fear, their seclusion; they could easily be your children, or your siblings, or friends. The author skilfully introduces the suicide pact and it prowls in the background as you grow to love Ansel’s sharp wit and Roman’s kindness. Leading you on a path towards the unknown, this is thought provoking, sharp yet subtle and a strangely beautiful read. A message from the author... 'As I state in the Author’s Note in the back of My Heart and Other Black Holes, I began to write the book in January 2013, a few days after the death of one of my very closest friends. I found myself in a place of deep grief and working almost compulsively on the manuscript was one of the ways in which I dealt with those feelings. Click here to read more.

Poppy is only 32, an army wife dreaming of setting up a family business once Martin leaves the forces. They have two young children. Poppy is diagnosed with inoperable breast cancer. She copes, she has to, but as always with this fabulous author, Amanda Prowse, she describes human situations and emotions with amazing insight and complete honesty. She is a very talented author indeed, you should read her entire catalogue. Highly recommended.
