It could be said that we are in a Golden Age for Provocative fiction. With more and more authors releasing books that explore the various realms of sexuality while still offering social commentary and a concentrated examination of human feelings and attitudes throughout. So with that in mind, why not test your fictional limits and see the range of provocative prose we have on offer!
Rumoured to be based on personal experiences, this is quite a tale. Sexually explicit, highly instructional and charmingly tongue-in-cheek, it is the frank diary of a newly engaged, sweet copy-editor battling with wedding plans and pending in-laws while earning a hard crust as a high-class prostitute. Both fascinating and fun.Comparison: Belle de Jour, Catherine M.Similar this month: None.
This is probably one of the most disturbing revenge tales I’ve read. It creeps up on you as you follow several seemingly unconnected characters through some bizarre, and at times, frightening scenarios. Definitely not for the faint-hearted or squeamish. It is an extraordinary work, thought-provoking and unput-downable. I literally read it in one sitting.Comparison: Marquis de Sade, Ryan Gattis, Thomas Harris.Similar this month: None.
A story about adultery and the far reaching effects it has, although this isn’t all doom and gloom. It is a story about people finding out what is really important, who they really are and the things that matter most. Chapters are told from different characters point of view which gives the prose pace and keeps it fresh. If you enjoyed The Adultery Club you’ll enjoy this.
This is compelling and sexy writing. Sadly adultery is now all too common place however described from the personal viewpoint of the Wife, the Husband and the lover it takes on a level of empathy and intimacy that is hard to tear yourself away from. It is a great read, and we won’t spoil the ending but be warned the book does not hold back when describing the passionate encounters!

While it is true that Bared to You has much in common with Fifty Shades of Grey , Bared to You is a more complete story, one that is better written. The characters are better developed and the story is far sexier. This is an erotic romance that should not be missed. It will make readers fall in love. (Romance Novel News). The secondary characters are just as flawed as Eva and Gideon, which makes Bared to You richer and more real to me than many of the contemporary books I've read in a while. ( Romance Junkies ). Literature has addressed sex throughout history. The joys and complexities are shown in 'The Song of Solomon' in the Bible. Byron, Chacer and Donne are famous for their compemplations on sex and desire.
Provocative prose is not simply pornographic, and product created simply to excite and arouse. Provocative prose stands apart as it is able to offer excitement while also deliviering social commentary and an examination of human feelings and behaviour. This genre can help you to think more deeply about sex, desire and how are attitudes to this topic are formed and what impact they have.
One of the most famous literary erotica would be Lady Chatterly's Lover by D.H. Lawrence, which manages to combine titilation and provocation while also offering character development, and an examination of the theme.
While some will still find these books shocking and a step too far. However there are marvelous modern authors such as Henry Miller, Anais Nin, and Annie Rice with her 'Sleeping Beauty' series which was published under the name Anne Roquelaure. With the development and exploration of this genre, there is a wide and varied selection of books for those interested in indulging.
