Yet again, a month of reading recommendations that takes us all over the world (and even the universe...): from the killing fields of Bosnia to wide-ranging galactic empires full of sound and fury, encompassing the technicolour world of James Bond and cohorts and not specifically James Bond, contemporary Chicago, treacherous suburbia, post-apocalyptic America, undergound caves in Wales and the top of Mount Everest and Cold War Moscow. Who needs actual travel and the cumbersome discomforts of airports, luggage halls, adverse weather and jet lag: read a book and the world is your oyster in the comfort of your own armchair!
