Numerology is perhaps the oldest of the divination arts and at the heart of many religious systems - Hebrew, Chaldean, Indian, Chinese and others. This title provides the real spiritual base for the use of numbers, illustrating why they have their own integrity. It explains why they relate to particular psychological states and shows how they can be used for diagnosing life's problems and providing solutions. It shows how numbers are a mirror of our very essence, explaining the relevance of time cycles and dates of birth. It also highlights the universal message of the ten Sikh gurus and shows how you can become a Ten-in-One Being. As an offering of the formula behind all formulas, it offers no quick fixes, but presents numerology as a multi-faceted jewel that you can refer to again and again in your life. Not limited to any one numerology system, it reveals the ground of them all. Describing the essence of numbers it goes beyond the usual fortune telling or application of a particular system to put the soul back into numerology. It covers dates of birth, time calendars and spiritual bodies, telling you more about yourself in a friendly way than you imagine there is to know.
Ellin Dodge shows that the ancient science of numerology offers insights not only into humans, but into their four-legged companions as well. In FROM ACE TO ZUMMO, she teaches pet owners the techniques of numerology and reveals how they can use them to: - choose the name best suited to a pet's breed or individual character - understand their pets better - match their personalities to the personality of their dogs or cats Whether the pet in question is an independent, active, alert, unemotional loner (a #1 numerologically speaking); an entertaining, noisy, dependent, and emotional companion (#3); or a mental, physical and social powerhouse and guardian (#8); the detailed dictionary in FROM ACE TO ZUMMO will provide the name that reflects its personality. Addressing such vital facts as a pet's biggest challenges, best collar and accessory colour, energy level, compatibility with children and favourite toys. It presents more than thirty-three thousand names to choose from.
Translations of the Yi jing into western languages have been biased towards the yili ('meaning and pattern') tradition, whereas studies of the xiangshu ('image and number') tradition - which takes as its point of departure the imagery and numerology associated with divination and its hexagrams, trigrams, lines, and related charts and diagrams - has remained relatively unexplored. This major new reference work is organised as a Chinese-English encyclopedia, arranged alphabetically according to the pinyin romanisation, with Chinese characters appended. A character index as well as an English index is included. The entries are of two kinds: technical terms and various other concepts related to the 'image and number' tradition, and bio-bibliographical information on Chinese Yi jing scholars. Each entry in the former category has a brief explanation that includes references to the origins of the term, cross-references, and a reference to an entry giving a more comprehensive treatment of the subject.
