Machine Design with CAD and Optimization

Machine Design with CAD and Optimization

Author: Sayed M Metwalli Format: Hardback Release Date: 31/12/2020

This book is designed to provide the new Computer Aided Design and Optimization tools and skills to generate real design synthesis of machine elements and systems on solid ground for better products and systems. This work provides the tool to directly obtain the synthesized real optimization tools to define the geometry and the particular selection of material. This is a new approach and a straightforward paradigm. It is divided into the following four parts: - Introduction and Design Considerations - Knowledge-based design: Introduction to the new Machine Element Design Synthesis - Introduction to computer aided design and optimization as tools used for Synthesis - Design of machine elements: rigorous traditional detailed design requirements These parts will include overview of chapters and enlightening design requirements.

Cybersecurity for Everyone

Cybersecurity for Everyone

Author: David B. (Queen's University, Canada) Skillicorn Format: Hardback Release Date: 10/12/2020

Cyberspace is a critical part of our lives. Although we all use cyberspace for work, entertainment, and social life, much of its infrastructure and operation is invisible to us. We spend a big part of our lives in an environment that is almost an essential service but is full of potential dangers: a place where criminals can commit new kinds of crimes, where governments can exert political pressure, and where we can be hurt by the unthinking actions of the bored and careless. Making cyberspace more secure is one of the challenges of our times. This is not only (or perhaps even primarily) a technical challenge. It requires actions by governments and businesses to encourage security whenever possible, and to make sure that their own actions do not undermine it. Unfortunately, many of those in a position to do something about cybersecurity do not have the background to understand the issues fully. Cybersecurity for Everyone will help by describing the issues in a way that is accessible to anyone, but especially those from non-technical backgrounds.

University Programs in Computer Aided Engineering, Design, and Manufacturing

Author: Ken P. Chong Format: Hardback Release Date: 05/10/2020

The University Programs in Computer-Aided Engineering, Design, and Manufacturing (UPCAEDM) annual conferences provide for the presentation and exchange of ideas related to current developments in the use of computers in multi-disciplinary engineering education and research environments. Organized around the theme 'Networking in Engineering Colleges', the present conference deals with new trends in computer-aided engineering applications of computer-aided design, manufacturing automation, and networking. UPCAEDM provides a forum for leaders from education, industry, and government to focus on issues related to the automation of engineering practice.

Basics of Computer Aided Geometric Design

Author: M. Ganesh Format: Paperback / softback Release Date: 26/09/2020

Sine the publication of the second edition of this book, a lot of crucial information in the area of computer aided design has surfaced along with the recent researches the world over. Hence, the need to revise the edition. This new edition has been duly updated and thoroughly overhauled. The main aim of the book is to provide a good foundation of computer aided geometric design (CAGD) to the students of undergraduate (according to the US standard) courses in engineering, especially, mechanical engineering, computer science, geometric modeling and CAD / CAM. It will also be useful for practising engineers and professionals working in the aeronautical and space research and in the shipbuilding; car manufacturing and other areas requiring designing and fabrication of hulls, chassis and other engineering parts on a large scale; telephone set and mobile handset designing; washing machine and TV set designing; designer glassware industry; sports shoe upper designers; and so on. Reflecting the advances that have taken place in the study and applications of CAGD, this book treats not only the theory aspects but also deals with a broad variety of topics relating to the applications. CAGD is becoming a fast growing area, used in all kinds of manufacturing processes involving designing of geometric shapes (such as car chassis, telephones, satellites, missiles, trains, etc) and in computer graphics. CAGD cannot be learnt without a sound knowledge of differential geometry. So, the book starts with the study of differential geometry. Concepts introduced are always illustrated with worked out examples. A list of problems is also given at the end of each chapter so that the students can apply their knowledge in solving them and thereby learn more. Highlights of this edition Two new chapters 9 and 10 (Case Studies and Steps to Develop a Profile, Curve and Surface) have been added. Chapter 9 deals with applications of the methods developed in this book to a 'toy model'. Chapter 10 provides important tips for tackling problems, arising out of real-life situations. Chapters 3 to 5 have been thoroughly revised for enhancing clarity of presentation and understanding. In chapters 3 to 6, the following additions have been incorporated: Plenty of new examples. More explanations and computational details. Algorithm(s) for each important computation. Pseudocode for each algorithm has been developed in order to facilitate the students in developing the codes in the language of their choice. All pseudocodes of a chapter have been collected and presented at the end of that chapter as an appendix in order to not interfere with the flow of presentation.
