Advanced Distributed Consensus for Multiagent Systems contributes to the further development of advanced distributed consensus methods for different classes of multiagent methods. The book expands the field of coordinated multiagent dynamic systems, including discussions on swarms, multi-vehicle and swarm robotics. In addition, it addresses advanced distributed methods for the important topic of multiagent systems, with a goal of providing a high-level treatment of consensus to different versions while preserving systematic analysis of the material and providing an accounting to math development in a unified way. This book is suitable for graduate courses in electrical, mechanical and computer science departments. Consensus control in multiagent systems is becoming increasingly popular among researchers due to its applicability in analyzing and designing coordination behaviors among agents in multiagent frameworks. Multiagent systems have been a fascinating subject amongst researchers as their practical applications span multiple fields ranging from robotics, control theory, systems biology, evolutionary biology, power systems, social and political systems to mention a few.

Gaskets and Gasketed Joints, Second Edition is an extensive revision of a book that brought together decades of research findings into a single, coherent source. Beginning with a review of the various types of gaskets, including industrial and chemical, it then moves to evaluating and testing them. These tests range from searching for high cycle vibrating service to the ones responsible for shell and tube heat exchange. The results allow for the selected, specified, and qualified gaskets to be discussed in detail, including an analysis of their behavior. The newest technology behind assembling, operating, and repairing vessel joints concludes the revision.
Sustainable energy development concept requires and maintains multiple linkages among energy production, energy consumption, human well-being, and environmental quality. Book puts forward the concept of integrated energy management and modeling pertinent to greenhouses that will eventually help reduce the load on power grids, demand for fossil fuels and water, and also supply CO2 for the greenhouse production. It helps enhance the competitive position of the global greenhouse industry by introducing economically, environmentally and socially sustainable technologies and management strategies.
Sustainable Manufacturing and Design draws together research and practices from a wide range of disciplines to help engineers design more environmentally sustainable products. Sustainable manufacturing requires that the entire manufacturing enterprise adopts sustainability goals at a system-level in decision-making, hence the scope of this book covers a wide range of viewpoints in response. Advice on recyclability, zero landfill design, sustainable quality systems, and product take-back issues make this a highly usable guide to the challenges facing engineering designers today. Contributions from around the globe are included, helping to form an international view of an issue that requires a global response.
Discrete Networked Dynamic Systems: Analysis and Performance provides a high-level treatment of a general class of linear discrete-time dynamic systems interconnected over an information network, exchanging relative state measurements or output measurements. It presents a systematic analysis of the material and provides an account to the math development in a unified way. The topics in this book are structured along four dimensions: Agent, Environment, Interaction, and Organization, while keeping global (system-centered) and local (agent-centered) viewpoints. The focus is on the wide-sense consensus problem in discrete networked dynamic systems. The authors rely heavily on algebraic graph theory and topology to derive their results. It is known that graphs play an important role in the analysis of interactions between multiagent/distributed systems. Graph-theoretic analysis provides insight into how topological interactions play a role in achieving coordination among agents. Numerous types of graphs exist in the literature, depending on the edge set of G. A simple graph has no self-loop or edges. Complete graphs are simple graphs with an edge connecting any pair of vertices. The vertex set in a bipartite graph can be partitioned into disjoint non-empty vertex sets, whereby there is an edge connecting every vertex in one set to every vertex in the other set. Random graphs have fixed vertex sets, but the edge set exhibits stochastic behavior modeled by probability functions. Much of the studies in coordination control are based on deterministic/fixed graphs, switching graphs, and random graphs.
Instrumentation and Control Systems, Third Edition, addresses the basic principles of modern instrumentation and control systems, including examples of the latest devices, techniques and applications. The book provides a comprehensive introduction on the subject, with Laplace presented in a simple and easily accessible form and complemented by an outline of the mathematics that would be required to progress to more advanced levels of study. Taking a highly practical approach, the author combines underpinning theory with numerous case studies and applications throughout, thus enabling the reader to directly apply the content to real-world engineering contexts. Coverage includes smart instrumentation, DAQ, crucial health and safety considerations, and practical issues such as noise reduction, maintenance and testing. PLCs and ladder programming is incorporated in the text, as well as new information introducing various software programs used for simulation. The overall approach of this book makes it an ideal text for all introductory level undergraduate courses in control engineering and instrumentation.
