The foundation of chiropractic care has always been the relationship between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. The understanding of this relationship has become more and more sophisticated to such an extent that we now realize that the integrity of the human frame and it's ability to move as designed can have implications in pain perception, muscle control, coordination, sleep, internal organ function, and immune response. This book provides an in-depth review of the ways in which abnormal movement in the musculoskeletal system (particularly the spine) will result in altered nervous system function and the potential for poor health.
Within I Can Sit Again, readers learn what to expect during their visit with a physician and feel empowered as they navigate through the interventional orthopedic regenerative medicine field, stem cells, and other evolving treatments. Tailbone pain is life changing. It affects the way of sitting, working, driving, or traveling. It consumes the everyday thought process, leading to loss of concentration, irritability, and depression. However, this is treatable. Tailbone pain can be treated, and those with this pain will sit comfortably again. Dr. Jennifer K. Stebbing, DO takes the concepts behind regenerative orthopedic treatment procedures that Dr. Chris Centeno discusses in his book Orthopedics 2.0, and Dr. Marchetti's guide on the science of current stem cells options discussed in A Buyer's Guide to Stem Cell Therapies and makes them easy to understand. In I Can Sit Again, those with tailbone pain are taught: What to do to treat their pain What type of doctors offer treatment What to expect during treatment What to expect as they heal, after they are treated
Born to Walk is designed to help movement therapists, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, massage therapists, and bodyworkers understand gait and its mechanics, and will appeal to anyone with an interest in evolution and movement. It offers a concise model for understanding the complexity of movement while gaining a deeper insight into the physiology and mechanics of the walking process. This second and revised edition provides new research on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment approaches to enhance gait efficiency. Changes include: * Updated information and research on myofascial continuities * More clearly arranged according to planes of movement * New informative illustrations based on phases of gait with EMG readings * Clear listing of the 'Essential Events' The ability to walk upright on two legs is one of the major traits distinguishing us as humans, In Born to Walk, author James Earls explores the mystery of walking's evolution by describing the complex mechanisms enabling us to be efficient in bipedal gait. His model uses the latest research in paleoanthropology, sports medicine and anatomy, coupled with a functional understanding of the human form, to demonstrate how the whole body collaborates as an interconnected unit in walking, Earls explores the efficiency which is part of our natural design, distilling the complex actions into a simple sequence of essential events that engage the myofascia and utilize its full potential. Born to Walk helps identify areas of the body that, if dysfunctional, may reduce efficiency of gait. With this knowledge we can help ourselves and our clients regain a flowing elasticity within gait.

This book is an adventurous foray into the subtle aspects of osteopathic diagnosis and treatment, the 'energetic' dimension in relation to the Lesion, the patient/practitioner exchange and touch; the clinical 'art' and the alchemy of practice. The role of visualisation and intention; the mind/matter dichotomy; the evolving view of osteopathy in relation to its proud legacy, and its often troubled place within the medical world. The vital balance between tradition and innovation and the enduring importance of our fundamental principles. Much of this book is relevant to other healthcare practices and might have appeal for other health professionals who also share some interest in osteopathy.
This is a brand new edition of a successful book which was one of the first to encourage movement therapists and bodyworkers to look at the postural causes of movement problems, rather than focusing treatment just on the physical symptoms. The book explains how to measure and assess posture and provides tools for doing so. The author introduces her unique perspective on body mechanics - Aston-Mechanics (R) - a departure from the standard model of body posture, and provides many opportunities to practice observation and analytical skills based on this paradigm. Key features The author is widely recognized as a pioneer in the art and science of kinetics for her discovery of the Aston (R) Paradigm and consequent development of the many forms of movement, bodywork, fitness and ergonomics of Aston (R) Kinetics. She created and developed Aston (R) Kinetics as an educational system of movement and bodywork. Rather than enforcing physical symmetry, Aston (R) Kinetics seeks to recognize the asymmetries that are natural to a person's body and to achieve the best movement possible. Her acute ability to 'see' the body in stillness and motion and to train others to see, move and exercise, established her discipline of bodywork and movement training that is known as Aston (R) Kinetics. The book is highly illustrated with over 300 photographs and 150 line drawings. All the illustrations are new for this edition.

Is chiropractic treatment a standard treatment for headaches? On the topic of chiropractic in lower back pain, a congress abstract was published by the author using the latest randomized clinical studies and discussed as a poster contribution to the 16th Congress for Health Services Research in Berlin. A systematic review answers the question about chiropractic treatment of headaches. About the author: Dr. scient. med. Rainer Thiele wrote this work as part of his doctoral studies in medical science at the UFL (Private University of Liechtenstein) as a cumulative dissertation. He is managing director of the specialist practice for Chiropractic / Osteopathy and Sports Medicine in Munich.
