Lovereading view...

In 1999 before the label autism was generally known, Kristine Barnett was faced with a child withdrawing from the world, a child, she was told that would struggle to tie his own shoelaces before he was 16. Her fight for Jake is born out of a conviction that he was a bright child, a very bright child and we gradually learn how right she was, Jake has exceptional intelligence, on line for a Nobel prize said one scientist mentor. It’s an absorbing story, of a child saved with an underlying sadness from knowing that not every child will have a mother like Kristine and there won’t always be the backup to help another child like Jake.
