"A unique love story of coincidences with a subtle undercurrent message of not leaving your future up to chance. "
A name mix-up at an airport coffee shop and on a transatlantic flight is the meet cute for Bart and Celeste Brown. Despite their instant connection, their opposing views on long term relationships and Celeste already being married makes them sure they’re not right for one another. But as further coincidences put Mr. and Mrs. Brown together, will they begin to change their minds. In a unique twist, the author has also incorporated the wealth building tips she’s found from reading over 150 non fiction books into the storyline.
Meeting Mr. Brown is an entertaining romance for readers who love an instant connection between their characters. Despite their own better judgement they are drawn together, but they also have their own journeys to navigate before they realise what it is they want from life. It’s a warm story about living for yourself, with a dash of fate creating the perfect rom-come set ups. I also loved Wilson, I was wishing for a connect the dots moment between him and Brown but perhaps his enigmatic, fairy-godmother-like guidance from a chess table in Central Park is perfect in its incompleteness.
The storyline on its own is sweet and would appeal to any romance reader but the author’s unique addition of weaving self help tips into the narrative is definitely interesting. Even though coincidence and chance draws our characters together, the advice that’s woven within the storyline encourages proactive steps to success and wealth building. When reading this feature in the synopsis I did worry that it would be a bit clunky, but everything is seamlessly incorporated into the narrative. So seamlessly in fact that only a couple of the tips really stood out as ”oh, there’s one” as I was reading. There is a summary of the advice at the end of the book which is useful to refer back to but to also highlight what all the different messages were to other imperceptive readers like myself that were swept up in the romance. I think this is a great way of structuring it so as not to detract from the readability of the storyline while also making sure the advice is clear.

What would you choose - a promise or happiness?
Bart Brown has grown up in the quiet house on Lake Geneva. When his father dies, he makes a second’s decision to accept a temporary job in the loudest place he can imagine, New York City. He loves women, he just doesn’t believe in torturing them by marrying them. Women are for sex, men for friendships and business. Until he meets Celeste on his flight to New York.
Celeste Brown is returning home to her husband of five years, trying to convince herself that a dead relationship is better than nothing. As a result of a last name mix-up, she ends up sitting next to Mr. Brown who’s coincidentally everything she wished her Mr. Brown was. They finish each other’s sentences. Exclaim the same phrases at the same time. Love to do the same things, often losing track of time.
And as of Monday, they also share a wall separating their offices in the hedge fund that Mr. Brown is joining for the next six months. From now on, every event might mistakenly include them as Mr. and Mrs. Brown… But what if Mrs. Brown starts enjoying it? And what if Mr. Brown ends up falling for his new Mrs. Brown?
Sometimes love starts as a series of coincidences...
