About the Author

Jeremy Harwood is a full time writer who studied history at Christ Church, Oxford, where he won an Open Exhibition and, in his final term was awarded the Sir Keith Feiling Memorial Prize as the college's top history undergraduate. Among his many books are The Secret History of Freemasonry, To The Ends of the Earth, Mysteries of History, Amazing Tales from Days Gone By, How It All Started and five volumes - the 1940s, 1870s, 1900s, 1910s and 1990s - in the Looking Back at Britain series. Philosophy: An Introduction was published this summer.
