Be a Better Nursery Nurse by Lynn Cousins

To be a nursery nurse is a challenging opportunity to make a positive contribution at the earliest stages of a child's journey through life. To do this well, you should be a reflective practitioner, thinking about what you do each day and why, reviewing how you do it and how you could do it better. Be a Better Nursery Nurse contains practical advice to help you to develop your approach, increase your understanding and extend your skills in working with children and your colleagues, in finding ways to build relationships with parents and carers, and with other professionals. There are systems and structures for you to use as you broaden your professional competency, and ways to keep yourself safe and well.

About the Author

Lynn Cousins has thirty years experience in the teaching of young children, as a teacher and a headteacher, and specialised in the education of children aged from three to eight years to gain her MA(Ed). Her experience with children broadened when she cared for children as a foster parent as well as providing relief care for children with multiple disabilities, and when she set up her own playgroup in response to local needs. She is now a freelance writer and editor of educational matters, and currently edits Early Years Update.
