Who's Leading Whom? Addressing the Challenge of Modern Business Leadership by Sandy Arpino

Although much has been written about different styles of leadership, little analysis has been undertaken with regard to the changing demands placed on leaders by the workforce, as business culture becomes softer and more 'feminised'. This book addresses this issue - most importantly looking at the consequences of applying an inappropriate leadership style to an increasingly capable workforce. The book shows how: - Weak leadership is the fundamental root cause of organisational decline and business failure in the modern, fast-moving world - Long-term strategic leadership is what is required today; there are too many transient leaders operating to short-term aims - With an increasingly 'feminised' workplace, the inspirational 'transformational' leadership style is essential - There is a current deficit of good leaders, resulting in unsuitable 'hero' employees gaining too much power, with likely dire consequences.
