The Owl and the Pussycat by Edward Lear, Angela McAllister and Kevin Waldron

Lovereading view...

The classic nonsense rhyme introducing the eccentric and loveable Owl and Pussycat are given a new adventure in an extra verse which tells what happens after they have danced on the edge of the sand by the light of the moon. Kevin Waldron’s illustrations capture the romance and curiosity of Edward Lear’s original verse.

Lovereading comment:

This is a wonderful new interpretation of Edward Lear’s nonsense rhyme complete with some bold, quirky and magical illustrations that will delight readers, both young and old. The fresh new verse at the end, you could say a twist in the tail, will bring much laughter to the book as well.

Synopsis

The Owl and the Pussycat by Edward Lear, Angela McAllister and Kevin Waldron

The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea In a beautiful pea green boat, They took some honey, and plenty of money, Wrapped up in a five pound note... Perhaps Edward Lear's best-loved nonsense rhyme, this new edition of The Owl and the Pussycat is guaranteed to delight readers young and old. Follow the adventures of the owl and the pussycat on the high seas as they sail away to the land where the Bong trees grow and are married by the turkey who lives on the hill. With magical illustrations, the most appealing of characters and a new verse, this is a fresh and exciting approach to an old favourite.

About the Author

Angela McAllister has written over thirty children's books. She lives in Hampshire with her husband and their two children, who are often the inspiration for her stories.

Kevin Waldron loves to draw animal characters, so when his sketchbook became a paper zoo, he created Mr Peek to take care of them all. Mr Peek’s Zoo was soon rather cramped in the sketchbook so Kevin released them all in his first ever picture book. With an MA in illustration from Kingston University, Kevin now lives in London. He enjoys cycling to work everyday at the studio he shares with other illustrators.
