Reviews

Country Smallholding: The author is a freelance gardener, writer and lecturer, and her book aims to encourage gardening with nature and without chemicals, using your knowledge of your garden and its conditions to choose plants that will thrive. Whatever the size of your garden, this book can help you create a framework of plants and wildlife habitats and a composting system that will allow you to enjoy an interesting and attractive garden that maintains a harmonious relationship with the natural world. There are chapters on assessing the soil, design, dealing with different conditions and weeds, attracting wildlife, as well as choosing the right plants for particular sites, all illustrated with colour photos.karenplatt.co.uk: This book is part of a practical gardening series from Garden Organic. This 48-page booklet explores gardening with nature, without using chemicals. However small your garden, you can make a difference. This book shows the gardener how to choose plants for their soil, how to make compost and attract bees, butterflies and insects to the garden. Basically, how to live in harmony with nature. The book also includes how to make a pond and which plants to choose as well as how to plan an ecological garden. The expert advice would have been even better accompanied by professional photographs.
