Fast and furious yet complex and intricate, discover a faceless, handless corpse, and a missing child case in this twisty and fascinating investigation. It’s always good to find a new series isn’t it, but if you weren’t aware, this is actually the 19th Temperance Brennan novel. And yet, and yet… I truly do think you can start here, I was completely comfortable stepping in without the back story, and while you may choose to read it as a standalone, believe me, you will probably want to go and hunt down the first 18 after you’ve finished! Author Kathy Reichs is a forensic anthropologist, the TV series Bones is based on her work and novels. She obviously knows her stuff, and that comes through in spades, this feels like a proper investigation, with all the leg work that involves. Temperance is fabulous, thoughts spill from her, fast, yet to the point. The plot spins from intrigue to conspiracy, it’s oh so smart and I simply revelled in the story. A Conspiracy of Bones whips into thoughts, forthright and sharp, this is an entertaining and rewarding read.

I’ve been following Kathy Reichs’ gripping forensic anthropologist novels featuring Temperance (Tempe) Brennan for many years now and always found her stories to be intelligent, clever and highly entertaining.

I’ve been following Kathy Reichs’ gripping forensic anthropologist novels featuring Temperance (Tempe) Brennan for many years now and always found her stories to be intelligent, clever and highly entertaining. A Conspiracy of Bones is the nineteenth in the series and sees Tempe returning with some physical and mental changes in her life, that has left her with some emotional and paranoia issues. This doesn’t stop her still being at the top of her game and is determined to find out who the faceless corpse is, that has been brought into the morgue and photos of him forwarded to her anonymously.
Although the subject matter of missing and murdered children is at times distressing, I did find the story very addictive and as is normal with Kathy’s books the attention to detail is second to none.... Read Full Review

Enjoyed this book - a new author for me, will now be hunting out more :-)

I had not come across Temperance Brennan novels by Kathy Reichs and I feel I have been missing out. It was gripping from start to finish. A torso turns up and Temperance fights against the odds to identify it. I would imagine that there is a theme about Temperance Brennan's life that must run through the books, so now I intend to go back and read the earlier ones.... Read Full Review

Told in a distinctive staccato style with a succession of cliffhangers which kept me reading on long into the night.

This book, nineteenth in a series, is about Temperance Brennan, a forensic anthropologist known as Tempe, who divides her time between Charlotte, North Carolina and Quebec. This story is set in North Carolina and commences as Tempe is recovering from an aneurysm, mourning the death of her boss, Dr Larabee, the Chief Medical Examiner, and realising that the appointment of Margo “Dr Morgue” Heavner who Tempe regards as grossly unprofessional, is probably going to be disastrous to her career. At this point, someone anonymously sends Tempe some photos of a faceless and handless corpse which appears to have been half-eaten by feral hogs. Dr Heavner makes it clear she does not want Tempe’s help.... Read Full Review
