Reviews

The Playground:

...it floats on a haunting, echoing raft of traditional South African harmonies that make watching it a joyful experience as well as a thought-provoking one. Don't miss it.

Time Out Magazine's Critics
Choice

- Pick of the Year, 2004 Taxi:

This is a superbly written and produced play... Enough ingredients here for a tragedy and, as it unfolds, we learn a lot about life in South Africa now. A fine piece of work that's refreshingly free of cliches.

Daily Mail, **** Pick of the Week, 2004 Green Man Flashing:

Mike van Graan's Green Man Flashing...staged with marvellous insight by Clare Stopford, led the way. This finely crafted drama screams to be seen. It tears at the heart and soul of our democracy, and rips at the underbelly of corruption and political power through its astute writing...

- Star Tonight, 2004 To House:

... some nice comedy touches, great pithy lines and Ashwin doesn't pull punches with regards to racist language... (he) presents the new cultural divide succinctly, making cogent statements about South African society as a whole as it moves further along the path to redefining itself . D'Arts Magazine, 2004 Rejoice Burning:

The contrasts between black and white are understated... but the cruellest irony of all is left until the end when Susan and Warren take a decision to start a family... the same one which has spelled the death of Rejoice... And millions more. We are being asked here to pity rather than blame.

Friends of BBC Radio 3, 2003 What The Water Gave Me:

You anticipate the tales to be told:tales that retrieve ancient magics and reveal contemporary terrors... tales that undulate with the agony and the ecstasy of a taxi traveller in a time gone insane.

Cape Times, 2001
