About the Author

Helen Cresswell (1934-2005) wrote over 100 books, including the ever-popular Bagthorpe books, and gripping mysteries such as The Night Watchman, The Watchers and The Secret World of Polly Flint. She was four times a runner-up for the Carnegie Medal. Lizzie Dripping, about a girl and her witch friend, was turned into a BBC television programme for which Helen Cresswell won a BAFTA.
