SS Canberra Synopsis

William H. Miller tells the story in words and pictures of the most famous cruise ship to sail from the UK. Canberra was the last ocean liner to be built by Harland & Wolff (Builder of the Titanic), and she sailed on the P&O route to Australia, taking emigrants to the Antipodes. Involved in the Falklands War, sailing directly in to the war zone to offload troops and take wounded soldiers back to the UK, she has served in war and peace. It is her last twenty or so years as a cruise ship that she will be best remembered for and in 1981, she carried fully half of all those sailing on a cruise from the UK. Illustrated with many unpublished illustrations, this will be a visual feats for all those who fondly remember the 'Great White Whale'.
