Jonathan Wittenberg was born in Glasgow in 1957. Having a strong interest in literature and language he read English at Cambridge, before spending time exploring his Jewish identity in Israel. He qualified as a teacher then studied for the rabbinate at Leo Baeck College in London, and in Jerusalem.
