Declan Twist moves into The Posse's East London flat at the same time as Tristan Russell, an indie-rock star whose love for hard drugs is matched only by his taste for young groupies. By comparison, Declan's life is lacking direction: he reviews films on a little-watched cable-television show and writes occasionally about art. He believes that he is falling in love with Juliet, a wealthy project manager at a large pharmaceutical company who prefers to date men half her age.
