Set against stunning illustrations of a beautiful farming background, Henry and the Fox is a book about being brave.

Henryâs a cowardly cockerel who canât even say boo to a goose. One day, he decides to change his ways: Henry and his friend Buffy the bantam devise a clever plan which will make it look as if Henry is brave enough to see off the fox. Several mishaps later, Henry finds that he really does save the hen from the fox .

Now he can cock-a-doodle doo to his heartâs content!

Cockerels are usually bossy and self-important, but not Henry. Henry is a cowardly cockerel who won't even say 'poo!' to a piglet, and his crowing is awful. Henry's friend - Buffy Bantam has come up with a plan. The pair set out to convince the other hens that Henry is a brave hero. Will Henry manage to conquer his fears and save the day?

About the Author

Chris Wormell

Christopher Wormell was born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, in 1955. On leaving school in 1973 he studied painting with his father while working at numerous temporary of part time jobs.

In 1982, inspired by the work of Thomas Bewick, Reynolds Stone and Charles Tunnicliffe among others, he took up wood engraving. He became a full time illustrator in 1984 and began writing and illustrating his own picture books in 1999.

Recent work includes a stamp design for the Royal Mail millennium set, Neighbourhood Watch images for the Metropolitan Police Force, package designs for Waitrose and a billboard poster campaign for Adnams Beer.

His most recent book is The Big Ugly Monster and the Little Stone Rabbit, published in the UK by Jonathan Cape in 2004.

His work has been exhibited at The Victoria and Albert Museum (1998), The Fouts and Fowler Gallery, London (1990) and The Artworks Gallery, London (1994).

Christopher Wormell lives in North London with his wife, Mary and three children: Jack, Daisy and Eliza.
