Trusts & Equity by Gary (Professor of Law, University of Warwick) Watt

Synopsis

Trusts & Equity by Gary (Professor of Law, University of Warwick) Watt

The seventh edition of Trusts & Equity builds on the successful approach taken in previous editions and continues to offer students a thorough and enthusiastic analysis of this complex field of law. An academically rigorous, yet highly readable textbook on the law of trusts, which encourages students to appreciate the scope and boundaries of a topic before engaging with the detail and issues it presents. By drawing on his expertise in teaching, writing, and research, Gary Watt brings the subject to life with useful analogies and memorable references to history and surrounding cultural contexts. The law is placed within a unique conceptual framework, examining trusts in light of the four key perspectives of precedent, principle, policy, and pragmatism, and explaining key decisions with clarity and rigour. Watt's engaging approach helps students to actively engage with the subject and to think critically about its central issues. Avoiding the dense text and unwieldy weight of many textbooks on this topic, Trusts & Equity offers a concise and clear account of the law, providing a compelling and stimulating companion to the study of trusts. Online Resource Centre An Online Resource Centre accompanies this book, providing additional support for both students and lecturers. Resources for the seventh edition include: * Three video lectures presented by Gary Watt introduce key areas of debate within the subject * Sample essay questions and problem scenarios * General guidance on answering essay questions and problem scenarios * Updates to the law post-publication * Web links to further primary sources and commentary to aid your understanding * Flashcard glossary to help test your knowledge of key terms

Reviews

Watt focuses on the relevant areas of equity and trusts, providing readers with a broad, but nevertheless rigorous, knowledge and understanding of the subject area. The students that use Watt view the textbook as an accessible and important source of information for their studies. All in all, a very good book. * Dr Lloyd Brown, Cardiff University * The book successfully provides both a detailed exposition of the complexities of trust law, as well as consideration of the wider application of equitable principles. It is well-structured and easy to navigate. * Robin Morris, The University of Sheffield * Review from previous edition Once again, Gary Watt has produced one of the leading texts in equity and trusts. Watt is able to present complex ideas and notions clearly and simply, and students will be sure to benefit from this excellent textbook. * Dr Tom Frost, University of Sussex *
