Lovereading view...

This is high octane, high drama on the high seas. It’s got all the fun of Pirates of the Caribbean, the action of Master and Commander and brilliant characterization that reminds me of the masterful Treasure Island. David Jones is swept aboard a pirate ship in the adventure of a lifetime. Volunteered to act as a spy on an enemy ship, marooned, and picked up by the most fearsome band of buccaneers ever known. Julia Golding has only been writing children’s books for a short time but we believe she’s here for the long term and we’re not the only ones to have noticed her talent as she has recently been shortlisted for one of the most sought after awards with Diamond of Drury Lane.

This is the April selection for the Oxford University Press Centenary Promotion

Synopsis

Ship Between The Worlds by Julia Golding

The Golden Needle is crewed by a motley assortment of fiendish pirates with a desire to atone for past misdeeds. In hot pursuit of the Golden Needle is the Scythe, crewed by pirates who live only to steal the golden thread anchoring the worlds. Who will win this fight to the death? If it is the Scythe, who will save the worlds?

Publishing News This book is the most excellent book I have ever read. Amazon review If you are looking for a book for a child of junior age or above (or their Mum or Dad!) who enjoys fantasy fiction, then this would definitely be a great choice. Amazon review I really like it - it reminded me of Susan Cooper's Over Sea Under Stone. Amanda Craig
