John O’Farrell’s novels are consistently funny, poking a stick at middle clash angst and embarrassing social situations. These are delivered in spades in this poignant and, at times, hilarious story of a man who simply forgets 30 years of his personal life. If you have never read any of John’s fiction books then don’t miss his provocative and highly entertaining May Contain Nuts.

The Man Who Forgot His Wife Synopsis

Wandering around a busy railway station, a confused man realises he has suffered a total memory loss. When he is eventually rescued, he is told that his breakdown has probably been triggered by his marital problems. But then he comes face to face with the stranger he is supposed to be divorcing - and promptly falls head over heels in love with her. So it is that forty-something Vaughan becomes desperate to win the heart of this beautiful and vivacious woman. His only obstacle; she's already been married to him for 15 years and now can't stand the sight of him. It was bad enough all those years when he forgot what she'd told him that morning, forgot to pick up the dry cleaning or forgot their wedding anniversary...But to forget their entire married life together - well, apparently women hate that. Vaughan meets his own children as if for the first time, learns how to love his job again and gradually recovers various memories; providing nostalgic flashbacks to all the milestones in their relationship and unpicking the mystery of why this marriage went wrong. Does his amnesia provide the chance for him to be a better husband and make this finally marriage work? Or is there perhaps one last memory he has yet to recover that will blow everything wide open?
