An absolute belter of a crime novel, and the seventh in the ‘Maeve Kerrigan’ series. 18 year old Chloe returns home to find her mum missing and the house drenched in blood, Maeve, in her new role as a DS, investigates. The first chapter set my senses on high alert, and I remained that way, evaluating, questioning, yet almost inhaling the action. Jane Casey writes with an assured hand, the investigators feel authentic, the investigation covers the painstaking research undertaken, the relationships between the team, as well as the riveting drama. I can’t believe that this is my first foray into this series, I’m going to have to hunt down the first six now! ‘Let The Dead Speak’ is unpredictable, fast moving, and action-packed, it’s a thrilling swaggering story and I highly recommend it. ~ Liz Robinson

Reviews

'I was utterly gripped by Let the Dead Speak, a plotting masterpiece, and am in awe of its sheer pace and drive' Susie Steiner, author of bestseller Missing, Presumed

'Jane Casey is one of the brightest stars in the modern crime firmament, and Let the Dead Speak may be her best yet. Fiendishly gripping.' John Connolly, bestselling author of the Charlie Parker series

'A tremendously twisty, emotional read. I love Maeve Kerrigan - what a terrific series Jane Casey has created' Sarah Hilary, author of the Top 10 bestseller Someone Else's Skin

'I loved it. I think Maeve Kerrigan is one of the most human, sympathetic characters in crime fiction; it has been fascinating to watch her develop as a person and a police officer over the course of this series. At the same time I think this book works brilliantly as a stand-alone thriller or a good introduction to Maeve and Derwent. Fans of intelligent police procedurals and meaty crime fiction are in for a real treat' Sinead Crowley, bestselling author of Can Anybody Help Me (shortlisted for Irish Crime Novel of the Year)

'A blood-drenched suburban nightmare, set in a street just like yours. Superb characterisation and psychological insight set this novel apart from the pack. If you haven't discovered Jane Casey yet, this is the perfect place to start' Mark Edwards, bestselling author of Follow You Home and The Magpies

Praise for Jane Casey:

'Jane Casey's writing is compulsive, menacing and moving' Sophie Hannah

'Astute, complex, layered. You'll remember this one for a long time' Lee Child

'The number of convincing police officers in crime fiction is a tiny squad, but Maeve has the potential to be one of the few female members' Telegraph

'Jane Casey's police procedurals go from strength to strength' Sunday Times

'Every scene is well timed. The characters are quickly, expertly drawn. You will turn the pages fast' Financial Times

'A truly modern detective tale' Stylist
