Sequel to Lazarus is Dead but it easily stands alone. It is a wonderful piece of speculative fiction, a ‘what if’ story. Here it asks ‘what if the Roman Empire existed today and Jesus lived now?’ And more than that: was the resurrection faked? Where is the body? Did someone switch places with Jesus and die in his place so he could appear to ‘rise again’? Cassius Gallio is the investigator trying to solve these mysteries. Then years later, washed out and brought back he tries to solve the deaths of the Apostles, each more gruesome than the last. It starts like a mystery/thriller but manages to be so much more. A seriously strange read, not for everybody, it forces us to open our minds and suspend disbelief to follow a story well-known to many but told here in a totally new way. If you can make the leap of faith necessary to take this book simply as it comes, it is really something special. ~ Sarah Broadhurst

Gallio is called back by headquarters and ordered to track down everyone involved the first time round. The only problem is they keep dying, in ever more grotesque and violent ways. How can Gallio stay ahead of the game when the game keeps changing?
