A 2016 World Book Night selection.

Perfect Daughter is a tender, warm-hearted read which has the ability to touch delicate issues with loving care and attention. Jacks still has dreams, she may be married, bringing up two children, be carer for her mother, scrimping and saving and putting everyone else first… but she still has dreams. With alternating chapters set in the past and the present, we get to know Jacks and appreciate why she feels that life may have escaped her, and why she doesn't want it to escape her daughter. Amanda Prowse writes with great sensitivity, particularly with regards to Ida, who has Alzheimer’s disease, you can feel her confusion and fear, and Jacks dedication to her is heart rending. The main storyline isn't hidden from view, you can see where it’s heading and it’s all the more poignant because of that, there are though, still plenty of surprises along the way. This charming story is jam-packed full of affection and emotion, and is a generously engaging read. ~ Liz Robinson
