LoveReading Says

Not to be dismissed as just another account of past SAS derring-do. There is plenty of adventure in Damien Lewis's historical account but for me, the second half of the book proved especially compulsive reading as we follow the account of the specially tasked unit setting out to track down those who butchered and tortured SAS captives working behind the German lines. Their gratuitous use of torture, extending the pain and suffering of their captors makes for uncomfortable reading softened only by the incredible bravery of the British soldiers, the men who fought for justice and the French freedom fighters. The governments of Britain and America are tainted by their use of German war criminals, the cover-ups and impeding of justice, a shameful episode well-told by Damien Lewis. ~ Sue Baker
