Die Again by Tess Gerritsen

Lovereading view...

I am a fan of the Rizzoli and Isles TV series and like the dynamics of their relationship, both as friends and colleagues, but in my mind the books are always so much better, sharper, more gritty and full of tension. This one is no exception; it is first rate. It spans both time and place with events occurring in Botswana six years ago heavily connected to those occurring in Boston USA now. With several suspects and scenarios, it keeps you riveted and guessing to the surprise ending. Brilliant stuff. ~ Sarah Broadhurst

The Good Book Guide logo The Good Book Guide Review. Like another contemporary female crime writer, Val McDermid, Tess Gerritsen tires of the observation that her books are disturbingly violent – in fact, she once pointed out to this reviewer that violence is usually ‘off-screen’ (so to speak) in her books. But there is no denying (whatever the truth) that her novels are rustling with ever-present menace, and this new Rizzoli & Isles thriller is among the most compelling. In Boston, Detective Jane Rizzoli and forensic pathologist Maura Isles are investigating a grotesque murder in which a man has been found eviscerated and hanging in his own house. Subsequently, another victim is discovered, and it becomes apparent that a ruthless killer has been at work for years – and not just in the city of Boston. The roots of the murders lie five years earlier when a group of travellers set off on an African safari from which only one appears again – a woman who stumbles out of the bush barely alive…
