Indian Summer by Marcia Willett

Lovereading view...

A Devon country estate with the big house running into financial trouble and the younger brother, a retired actor, coming to the rescue. It is full of familiar characters from her previous books but you can pick up most of the threads if you haven’t read the rest. It’s got all the estate problems of restoring cottages, the possible sale of the Home Farm and the many characters affected by maintaining such a place. She is a lovely author and, although this is not one of her best, it is very rewarding. ~ Sarah Broadhurst

If you like Marcia Willett you might also like to read books by Rosamunde Pilcher, Josephine Cox and Sara MacDonald.

Synopsis

Indian Summer by Marcia Willett

Some memories are best forgotten...Others won't ever go away. For Kit, the quiet Devon village she visits every year is the perfect retreat. But this summer, she arrives with a heart in turmoil: years have passed since Kit last saw Jake, but now he has written asking to meet again. For Mungo, the village is simply home and the ideal getaway for friends, like Kit, even if he aches at the old memories they bring - and the secrets they stir in him. As the summer unfolds, hidden truths are uncovered that will shatter the sleepy community. But those involved soon realize that the only way to move forward might be to confront the past...
