Stephen Smith does for the Rotherham legal system in the Eighties what James Alfred Wight (aka James Herriot) did for Vets in the 40’s and 50’s. At times hilarious, at times tragic and just bizarre for the rest of it his memoir of the mainly lowlife of this Northern town is a easy and entertaining read.
