Shortlisted for the CWA International Dagger 2015.

Swedish crime gives way to Swedish spy! It also raises questions about disclosing secrets, what is “not in the public interest”. Indeed, what is the public interest and who determines it? All very complex, all very thought-provoking. What we have here is such, a document being given to a young woman, part of the European Union bureaucracy, while at a meeting of the EU commission. What to do? It is clearly a secret document. How she reacts and becomes deeply involved in a huge plot makes for great reading. It is so refreshing to have a spy story come out of Sweden instead of its dark crime. ~ Sarah Broadhurst

The Good Book Guide logo The Good Book Guide Review. This Swedish thriller has enjoyed considerable acclaim since its publication, and it’s not hard to discern why – even though the book does not fall comfortably into the Scandi-crime genre. The author worked on security issues for the Swedish Ministry of Foreign affairs for a decade, and utilises that knowledge in this weighty novel. Carina Dymek is anticipating her promotion (at the very ministry in which her creator worked), when she is handed a USB stick. To her dismay, she finds herself disseminating material that makes many people distinctly uneasy: a maelstrom of classified information, in fact. She finds herself on the radar of the security services and things become very dangerous for her. This is splendid stuff, fully worthy of the praise it has been accruing.
~ Barry Forshaw

Into a Raging Blaze by Andreas Norman

Carina Dymek works for the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Until she accidentally exposes secret plans for a European Spy Agency. Suspended, investigated, on the radar of the Security Service, she is fighting to clear her name. But now MI6 are watching. And their plans for her are just beginning.

'A modern take on the spy thriller ... Norman's warning is a clear message to the 'nothing to hide, nothing to fear' camp who challenged the import of the Snowden revelations ... A Le Carre-esque yarn that's rooted in verisimilitude. No faint praise that'

'An excellent and very up-to-the-minute novel ... Is this how others see us now? If so, alas!'
Literary Review

'Norman handles its derring-do deftly. For British readers, however, the main source of interest is its unflattering reverse-angle view of our spooks at work'
Sunday Times
