An Evil Mind by Chris Carter

Lovereading view...

The sixth in a series to feature Robert Hunter but all can easily be read as stand-alone thrillers. This one poses that eternal question, nature or nurture? Are you born evil or can you become evil? The FBI pick up a man with two severed heads in his boot (trunk … we are in America) and after much interrogation he finally says he will only speak to Hunter. Turns out the two were friends at college. There then follows an intricate mind game with Hunter and his deputy manipulated by the very clever killer. It has a race-against-time conclusion with some stomach churning violence but it is the psychological aspect that makes this a terrifying and compulsive read. Highly recommended. ~ Sarah Broadhurst
