Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor

Dreams of Gods and Monsters

Part of the Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy Series
Fantasy   eBook Favourites

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

The third in the amazing trilogy which began with Daughter of Smoke and Bone. These books are like nothing else. The depth of imagery, the twisting of plot and ideas, the excitement and the horror all take my breath away. The war for Eretz has spread to earth. Angels and demons are fighting but of course it is far more complicated than that as these are not divine beings but flesh and blood people from another world. Very few know the truth and most of them are trapped in inaccessible places. The action is fast and unpredictable and through it all runs the thread of the impossible true love between a demon reincarnated in human form and an angel powerful enough to destroy the world, without ever realising it. These books are extremely special and should be read, treasured and recommended to as many people as possible.

If you like Laini Taylor you might also like to read books by Carol Goodman, Tad Williams and Nick Harkaway.

Synopsis

Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor

By way of a staggering deception, Karou has taken control of the chimaera rebellion and is intent on steering its course away from dead-end vengeance. The future rests on her, if there can even be a future for the chimaera in war-ravaged Eretz. Common enemy, common cause. When Jael's brutal seraph army trespasses into the human world, the unthinkable becomes essential, and Karou and Akiva must ally their enemy armies against the threat. It is a twisted version of their long-ago dream, and they begin to hope that it might forge a way forward for their people. And, perhaps, for themselves. Toward a new way of living, and maybe even love. But there are bigger threats than Jael in the offing. A vicious queen is hunting Akiva, and, in the skies of Eretz ...something is happening. Massive stains are spreading like bruises from horizon to horizon; the great winged stormhunters are gathering as if summoned, ceaselessly circling, and a deep sense of wrong pervades the world. What power can bruise the sky From the streets of Rome to the caves of the Kirin and beyond, humans, chimaera and seraphim will fight, strive, love, and die in an epic theater that transcends good and evil, right and wrong, friend and enemy. At the very barriers of space and time, what do gods and monsters dream of ? And does anything else matter

Reviews

'I like to spread the word when I come across a book that excites me. I read Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor last weekend (sequel to Daughter of Smoke and Bone) and I'm all fired up about it. Thank you, Ms. Taylor, for a thrilling couple of days. I am in your debt. (Warning readers: this is one of those series that will have you tearing at your hair and gnashing your teeth waiting for the next installment. Be prepared.)' Stephenie Meyer

'This is Romeo and Juliet on a sprawling fantasy stage.' Guardian

'Heartbreak, war and magic spells abound in this captivating romance ... There's slaying aplenty, but Taylor mitigates the violence with an unquenchable belief in the restorative powers of love and hope - and magic.' Marie Claire

'Plunges us into a world of beauty and horror ... intricately plotted ... it's a book that flies between worlds on blood-tipped wings and grips like a magical vice.' Daily Mail
