The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg

The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion

Historical Fiction   eBook Favourites

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

Just sit down and wallow in the glorious comfort of this book. It is small-town America which Fannie Flagg is so good at. It stars Sookie, a sweet, slightly dippy, 59-year old who discovers she is not only adopted but also 60! She goes in search of her roots. What she finds is truly lovely. She actually is able to meet up with some family members and go to the filling station reunion of the title. There are stories from the family going back to the war years and the details of serving WASPS is fascinating. All in all a perfect gem.

If you like Fannie Flagg you might also like to read books by Rebecca Wells, Adriana Trigiani and Adriana Trigiani.

Wonderful...A warm, funny riff on family and identity . (Daily Mail). Wisconsin, 1941 - With all the men off to war, Fritzi and her sisters must learn men's work and the All-Girl Filling Station is born, complete with neat little caps, short skirts, and roller-skates.
