This is a powerhouse of a read, it will tempt and cajole you into reading faster and faster, the last page will whisper seductively to you but hold on firmly to your horses and enjoy the wild ride. The husband and wife writers that are the team behind Lars Kepler have penned the most captivating characters; the mainstays of the detective team are a little flawed, even a little menacing and the Sandman himself is shockingly intimidating and formidable. The story could easily have run out of control but is kept tenaciously on its thrilling path and keeps up the suspense until the very last page. This, the fourth in the Joona Linna series is hang on to the edge of your seat stuff and an absolute knockout. ~ Liz Robinson

If you like Lars Kepler you might also like to read books by Henning Mankell, Stieg Larsson and Camilla Lackberg.

The Good Book Guide logo The Good Book Guide Review. ‘Lars Kepler’ is a husband and wife team, both literary authors – Alexandra and Alexander Ahndoril. DI Joona Linn is on the trail of a highly intelligent, nigh-invisible serial killer, with one target left in his sights. There is no evidence here of Alexander Ahndoril’s interest in Bergman’s nuanced and subtle approach to character: the imperative here is overriding narrative impetus, and that the duo delivers in spades. Their copper Joona Linn may be a touch penny plain compared with his rivals in the sleuthing stakes, but he is the perfect conduit for this pursuit scenario written in a permanent present tense that won’t be to every taste.
