This is part of the author’s Second World War seaside boarding house series. Each is self-contained but it is nice to run through the series. This is the eighth. We follow Mary Jones once both her parents are killed when the house is bombed but an old trunk of her father’s remains. In it she finds her original birth certificate and so her unknown roots. Naturally she now has a quest to follow and we are eventually left a little uncertain as to how she will fare … but she has certainly made a lot of new friends.
