The Convert's Song by Sebastian Rotella

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

A thriller with an Argentinian and a Lebanese forming a childhood friendship that carries through to their adult life. The problem is that one becomes a security guard, the other a terrorist. The loyalty and trust between the two certainly complicates things in an enjoyable tale, if perhaps a tad convoluted. Strangely it lacks the final shoot out for that bit of tense, human action is replaced by technology! No doubt very real in today’s security world. There are drugs, bombs, kidnapping, international settings and all the right ingredients, plus a slice of chaotic South American life so the rest is all classic thriller stuff. Very exciting.

If you like Sebastian Rotella you might also like to read books by Vince Flynn, David Baldacci and Tom Wood.

Synopsis

The Convert's Song by Sebastian Rotella

Valentine Pescatore has put a hazardous life in US law enforcement behind him, and started over as a private investigator in Buenos Aires. But dangers have followed him from home. Soon after a chance encounter with his long-lost friend Raymond - a charismatic, troubled man who's recently converted to Islam - a terrorist attack kills hundreds. Suspicion falls on Raymond...putting Pescatore in the frame too. Angry and betrayed, Pescatore joins forces with a beautiful French agent to clear his name by tracking his old friend down. But is Raymond a terrorist, a spy or a gangster? Is he truly lost, or can Pescatore rescue him from the deadly path he's travelling on? From the jungles of South America to the streets of Paris to the battlegrounds of Baghdad, Pescatore finds himself caught in a global conspiracy, in a race against time to prevent another atrocity.

Reviews

'A revelation. Sure, it's a smart, gripping thriller that will have you turning the pages at high speed. But it's also a deep, emotionally resonant story of identity, friendship, and faith. Rotella's characters leap off the page in three dimensions and his plot is as imaginative as it is believable.'
