Sarah Broadhurst's view...

1871, Daisy and Kitty are sisters, their strict father a baker by trade but miraculously pretty Kitty has been noticed by Clifford Middleton, heir to a rather tatty estate. Sadly Clifford is a callous, cruel man; he rapes Daisy the day before his wedding to Kitty. Naturally with such a straight-laced father she is thrown out and so begins our sad, dramatic and eventually joyous tale. It is a heartbreaking story with so much going on that you are kept riveted to the end.

If you like Diane Allen you might also like to read books by Katie Flynn, Rita Bradshaw and Ruth Hamilton.
