A highly atmospheric guide to the locations used for his crime novels and as such also an intriguing glimpse into the author’s life and mind. I found it fascinating. ~ Sarah Broadhurst

Synopsis

Rebus's Scotland by Ian Rankin

In REBUS'S SCOTLAND Ian Rankin uncovers the Scotland that the tourist never sees, highlighting the places that inspired the settings for the Inspector Rebus novels. Rankin also reveals the story of Rebus and how he came into being, who he is, and what his - and Rankin's - Scotland is like. With over 100 evocative photographs, specially commissioned to reflect the text, REBUS'S SCOTLAND is the perfect gift for anyone interested in Scotland or in the novels of Ian Rankin.

Reviews

'The autobiographical narrative of real Rankin is punctuated by the observations of unreal Rebus and are interwoven with acute and often wry tangential digressions on the nature of Scottishness. The formula works. Rebus 's myriad fans will be fascinated by the relationship between their hero and Rankin and general readers will find much to ponder over in Rankin's speculations about his own times and nation. The evocative photographs are a brilliant complement to the text'
