Sarah Broadhurst's view...

It is so good to find a strong female fantasy, not that boys won’t like this book but it has a little more feminine insight than the usual “hit it with swords” story. A great deal of fuss is being made with a film already in the works, so I was sceptical when I began reading as I often find the hype off-putting. I was soon drawn in, as much by the interesting and detailed characters (all hiding so many secrets) as by anything else. It’s excellent escapism, really enjoyable and compelling, looking forward to the next one to uncover more of the mysteries.

If you like Erika Johansen you might also like to read books by Sheri S. Tepper, Maggie Furey and Meg Clothier.
