White Bodies by Jane Robins Read the opening extract of the brand new Jane Robins book before its publication on 03/05/2018

Long Way Home by Eva Dolan

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

An incredibly assured debut crime novel that is bound to be the first of a hugely successful series. Our detectives, Zigic and Ferreira, are beautifully drawn and complex characters and the subject matter of a hate crime against a migrant worker is all too relevant in modern Britain. But this goes far beyond UKIP or BNP clichés to deliver a darkly brilliant, hugely enjoyable read.

If you like Eva Dolan you might also like to read books by M J Arlidge, Chris Ewan and Simon Lewis.

Who is Sarah Broadhurst

The Good Book Guide logo The Good Book Guide Review. Eva Dolan’s debut crime novel tackles a contemporary issue, people trafficking, with great sensitivity and a compelling plot. The Hate Crimes Unit is called in when a body with no fingerprints, but a positive visual ID as an immigrant is found in a burnt-out garden shed. Is the dead body on the railway track linked? Are the owners of the shed as innocent as they claim? The Fenland community is resolutely taciturn, but Detectives Zigic and Ferraira pursue any possible lead as the tensions in the community rise. An impressive series debut, and the next book will be eagerly awaited.

Synopsis

Long Way Home by Eva Dolan

Silence hides the worst crimes. A man is burnt alive in a suburban garden shed. No witnesses, no fingerprints - only a positive ID of the victim as an immigrant with a long list of enemies. Detectives Zigic and DS Ferreira are called in from the Hate Crimes Unit to track the killer, and are met with silence in a Fenland community ruled by slum racketeers, people-trafficking gangs and fear. Tensions rise. The clock is ticking. But nobody wants to talk.
