It's a year and a half on from Paper Aeroplanes, and Renee is now living idyllically with her Aunty Jo. They even have geese, and Renee likes to sit and watch them, wondering if she'll ever find 'the One' - someone who will love her no matter what, and be there for her no matter how bad things get. Dawn O'Porter's debut, Paper Aeroplanes was a book about finding friendship, Goose is the novel that explores whether it's possible to keep hold of it.

Synopsis

Goose: A Renee & Flo Novel by Dawn O'Porter

Renee and Flo are in their final year at school, and they've got some tough choices to make - like will they go to university? And if so where - and will they go together? Renee's usual ambivalence on the matter shocks Flo, who had assumed they'd continue as they were, the best and closest of friends, forever. She feels as though she needs Renee's support more than ever, so when a handsome young boy enters Flo's life, she finds herself powerfully drawn to his kindness, and his faith. Renee and Flo's friendship will soon be tested in a way neither of them could have expected - and if Paper Aeroplanes was a book about finding friendship, Goose is the novel that explores whether it's possible to keep hold of it.

Reviews

Praise for Paper Aeroplanes

‘Paper Aeroplanes is one of the best debut novels I’ve read. Teenage friendships are very potent and O’Porter captures that.’ Alex Jones, Mail on Sunday

‘O’Porter perfectly captures the sometimes ludicrous complexities of adolescence, and everyone should relate to this heartbreakingly funny depiction of friendship and loss.’ The Irish Times

‘Set in the mid-1990s and based loosely on her own experiences, TV presenter and journalist Dawn O’Porter’s first novel is a tale of two unlikely friends who find common ground in their dysfunctional families. Funny, touching and packed with cultural references, this is a must for anyone who has experienced the joy – and pain – of teenage friendship.’ Grazia

‘A cringingly honest account of teenage friendship in the 1990s … a really gorgeous and nostalgic read.’ Marie Claire

‘Dawn O’Porter’s first novel Paper Aeroplanes … about the mega bond between teenage girls and their bessies. Brought us right back. And made us LOL. A lot!’ Company Magazine

‘She has nailed every high school girl’s defining moments’ Jo Elvin, editor, Glamour Magazine

‘Hilarious and devastating, it made me weep, cringe and laugh out loud. The characters are believable and fantastically imagined. I can’t recommend it enough. Even if you aren’t a teenage girl! I cannot wait to see what Dawn writes next’ Sunday Mail, Glasgow

‘Dawn O’Porter’s first novel is just as brilliant as you would expect … Funny, sad and incredibly poignant, it’s the novel you wish you’d read at 15’ Stylist

‘A laugh-out-loud read … heart-warming’ Sunday Express

‘Very funny and moving’ Bookseller Children’s Choice
