It Happens in the Dark by Carol O'connell

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

Kathy Mallory is a troubled, sociopath, NYPD cop who has featured in 11 of Carol O’Connell’s books since she was first introduced in Mallory’s Oracle, twenty years ago. Though this book is intriguing and playful (in the sense a cat is playful with a mouse) it is probably not the best place to start if you’re not already familiar with the series as there is plenty of background to the characters that it would be helpful to know. Fans will find the usual mix of humour and the macabre as O’Conell tackles a plot that wouldn’t be out of place in Agatha Christie, with her usual dark flair.

If you like Carol O'connell you might also like to read books by Faye Kellerman, Sue Grafton and Kathy Reichs.
