The Scandalous Duchess by Anne O'Brien

Before the Tudors came the most shocking affair in Royal history...1372: The Savoy Palace, London. Katherine Swynford is back in court for the first time since becoming a widow. John of Gaunt, Plantagenet Prince and newly married, is waiting for her with an offer. Governess to his children and mistress of his bed - Katherine is a woman of dignity, piety and grace and will not be taken in sin. But John is ambitious, ruthless, and in line to the throne. There is no denying Katherine's attraction to him and his power means he will get what he wants. Katherine will be his Royal mistress, his forbidden love. The woman who will become more important to him than his wife. The concubine who will have to stay in the shadows and ignore the wickedly vicious court whispers. The Duchess who will bear his illegitimate children and give them the Beaufort name. This is the story of Katherine. The scandalous Duchess who became ancestor of the greatest Kings and Queens in England.
