As research continues to come to light about falling literacy levels and research shows that reading for pleasure can reduce the symptoms of depression, build empathy and help us build relationships with others, we need to get more people reading! A third of UK adults do not read for pleasure.
To that end, LoveReading is on a mission. A mission to help engender a love of reading. This is a critical mission that the new management team are not taking lightly.
Born in 2005, LoveReading was launched to serve a need for recommendations to help its users choose their next favourite book.
As a small business, we have developed an unparalleled reputation in the book world with publishers keen to gain the coveted awards, star reviews and recommendations that the LoveReading expert panellists provide.
We have come a long way since LoveReading changed hands in mid-2017 and this phoenix is flourishing. The new LoveReading website launches today, after the new LoveReading team has pumped a lot of money into overhauling the business and revamping the popular portfolio of sites to bring them bang up-to-date.
Fresh branding across the 3 sites LoveReading, LoveReading4Kids and LoveReading4Schools has been implemented and a new team has been recruited to expand the operations, modernise our offering and add lots of functionality and tools to keep you, our loyal community of book lovers happier than ever – and drive more people to get excited about books or re-ignite their flame for reading.
The new LoveReading site has been revealed today, May 11th and promises to be a real game-changer for any book lover wanting help choosing their next favourite book.
We have extended the retailers on the site making it easier for our users to utilise the live book price comparison engine and get the best deal when buying books. Audiobooks will be integrated into the new site with a great partnership with the biggest audiobooks channel in the world. We are also launching a new self-publishing platform for authors wanting to navigate the tough publishing world, obtain feedback on their books and gain a potential route to market.
Lots of shiny new things but of course the overall premise stays the same: curating a selection of wonderful books, shortlisted each month and reviewed by our impressive team of editorial experts - fiction and non-fiction and across all relevant genres. The expert reviewers are supported by a huge network of consumer reader reviewers.
We will also be shortly launching the monthly LoveReading Podcast. Hosted by author and editor Elena Lappin, the podcast will feature a lively mix of interviews and conversations with authors, readers, book reviewers and journalists. Here we will will talk and argue about books and share our passion for reading with the enthusiastic LoveReading community, and far beyond.
Focusing on both current titles and older gems, the podcast will be a vibrant home for passionate debate, personal stories and insights into the real world behind the books we are reading.
Next on the list is redevelopment of the children’s books sites. For the LoveReading4Kids site, there are lots of exciting plans afoot as we already have a strong community of parents coming to us for recommendations and we want to work with other partners in the industry to make sure we continue to extend this further. Similarly, on the Schools side of things, LoveReading knows how much our schools value their annual year group reading lists developed for the benefit of time-stretched teachers each year. And we are looking to extend our resources and tools further with the relaunch of LoveReading4Schools in early 2019.
